Sudarsan Pattnaik Marks World Malaria Day with Sand Art at Puri Beach

Bhubaneswar: Renowned sand artist and Padma Shri awardee Sudarsan Pattnaik created a powerful sand sculpture at Puri Beach on Friday to mark World Malaria Day 2026, delivering a strong message on the need for collective action to eliminate the disease.
Using his signature sand art, Pattnaik highlighted the importance of global unity in the fight against malaria. The sculpture prominently showcased this year’s theme, “Driven to End Malaria: Now We Can. Now We Must,” reflecting the urgency of sustained efforts toward eradication.
Sharing the artwork on his social media platform X, Pattnaik said he dedicated the creation to spreading awareness and encouraging public participation. He urged people to come together and take responsibility in preventing malaria, emphasizing that collective efforts are key to building a healthier, malaria-free world.
Known for blending art with social messaging, Pattnaik once again used the shores of Puri Beach as a canvas to address a critical public health issue. His latest creation aims to inspire communities not only in Odisha but across the country to actively support malaria prevention initiatives through awareness and participation.
The initiative stands as a reminder of the ongoing fight against malaria and the role individuals and communities can play in achieving its elimination.
