Jharsuguda, Titilagarh Sizzle as Heatwave Grips Odisha; Temperatures Soar Past 44°C

Bhubaneswar: Severe heatwave conditions continued to grip Odisha on Wednesday, with Jharsuguda and Titilagarh emerging as the hottest places in the state.
Jharsuguda recorded a scorching maximum temperature of 44.8°C, the highest in the state, closely followed by Titilagarh at 44.0°C. Sambalpur registered 43.6°C, while Hirakud recorded 43.4°C, indicating widespread extreme heat across western Odisha.

Several other districts also witnessed temperatures crossing 43°C. Angul recorded 43.1°C, followed by Bolangir at 43.0°C. Sonepur reported 42.8°C. Rourkela, Sundargarh, Nuapada, and Bhawanipatna each recorded 42.6°C.
Talcher logged 42.5°C, while Paralakhemundi recorded 42.0°C. Boudh and Bargarh reported 41.8°C and 41.7°C respectively. Dhenkanal saw temperatures of 41.5°C, while Phulbani recorded 40.8°C. Khordha also experienced intense heat, touching 40.0°C.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has cautioned that heatwave conditions are likely to persist in the coming days. Residents have been advised to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, stay hydrated, and take necessary precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses.
