Teacher Critically Injured in Bee Attack During Census Duty in Balangir

Balangir: A government school teacher sustained severe injuries after being attacked by a swarm of bees while returning from census duty in Balangir district on Monday.

The injured teacher, identified as Dolomani Hans, is posted at Sareibahal Upper Primary School under the Tankapani cluster in Khaprakhol block. According to reports, the incident occurred when he was walking back from Goelmunda village, where he had been assigned census-related work.

A sudden swarm of bees reportedly descended on him, leaving him with multiple stings. He collapsed on the roadside in a critical condition. Local residents spotted him lying unconscious and immediately rushed to his aid, shifting him to the Nuapada District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.

This marks the second such incident involving teachers on census duty in western Odisha in recent days. On Saturday, another teacher was injured after being attacked by a pet dog while carrying out enumeration work in the Dengibhadi area of Sundargarh town.

The back-to-back incidents have raised concerns over the safety of government employees, particularly teachers, who are frequently deployed for field duties in rural and forested regions.
