Manas Mangaraj Appointed BJD Leader in Rajya Sabha; Sulata Deo Named Deputy Leader

Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has appointed Manas Ranjan Mangaraj as the Leader of its Parliamentary Party in the Rajya Sabha following the recent biennial elections and the retirement of senior members.

In a significant reshuffle, Sulata Deo has been designated as the Deputy Leader and Chief Whip of the party in the Upper House, strengthening the BJD’s leadership structure.

The changes come after BJD President Naveen Patnaik accepted the resignation of Dr. Sasmit Patra from the post of Leader in the Rajya Sabha.

Patnaik has also formally communicated the new appointments to the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, seeking official recognition for the newly appointed leaders.

The leadership overhaul follows the recently concluded Rajya Sabha biennial elections and the retirement of several party MPs. The move is expected to enhance coordination within the party and improve its effectiveness in the Upper House, ensuring stronger representation of its interests.
