Firecracker Blast in Nayagarh Claims Young Man’s Life, Several Injured

Bhubaneswar: A tragic firecracker explosion in Odisha’s Nayagarh district has claimed the life of a young man who had sustained severe burn injuries in the incident. The mishap occurred in the Nuagaon area under Dasapalla police station limits.
The deceased has been identified as Bapi Nahak, a resident of Meenagadia village. He was critically injured while reportedly preparing firecrackers at his residence ahead of the upcoming Lankapodi festival scheduled for April 7.

Following the explosion, six individuals—including two women and a minor boy—suffered serious injuries. All the injured were initially admitted to the Nayagarh District Headquarters Hospital. Due to the severity of their condition, the critically injured were later shifted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for advanced treatment.
Despite medical efforts, Bapi Nahak succumbed to his injuries on Saturday while undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar.
At present, two of the injured are receiving treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, while three others are undergoing care at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
Police from Nuagaon have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the explosion.
