RPF DG Sonali Mishra Reviews Railway Security with East Coast Railway Officials in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Director General of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) Sonali Mishra on Monday held a comprehensive review meeting with senior officials of the East Coast Railway (ECoR) at Rail Sadan to assess and strengthen security arrangements across the zone.
The meeting focused on enhancing railway security, improving passenger safety measures, strengthening crowd management, and reinforcing inter-departmental coordination to ensure smooth and secure train operations. Key issues discussed included passenger safety on tracks, prevention of trespassing, and curbing unsafe practices such as crossing railway lines.
Special emphasis was laid on adopting a proactive, sensitive and passenger-friendly approach to security management. The safety and dignity of women, children, senior citizens and other vulnerable groups were highlighted as priority areas. The Director General reviewed arrangements for crowd control during peak hours and festive seasons, deployment of RPF personnel at sensitive locations, and effective monitoring of stations, platforms and circulating areas.
During the interaction, Mishra stressed the need to build public trust through alertness, professionalism and swift response. She underlined that passenger security must be visible and approachable, ensuring that travellers feel safe not only inside trains but also at stations and surrounding premises.
Officials were advised to sensitise field staff towards courteous behaviour, prompt grievance redressal and optimal use of modern surveillance systems and technology to prevent and detect crime. The importance of regular patrolling to prevent accidents and ensure track safety was also emphasised.
The deliberations reaffirmed that passenger-centric security extends beyond enforcement to include empathy, accessibility, vigilance and effective crowd regulation.
Reiterating its commitment to safe and people-focused rail services, East Coast Railway assured full cooperation with the RPF to further strengthen security systems and provide a secure and reliable travel experience for passengers.
