‘Cyber Kavach’ Drive Intensified to Crack Down on Cyber Fraud in Odisha’s Central Range

Cuttack: Acting under the direction of Director General of Police YB Khurania, Odisha Police has intensified its crackdown on cyber fraud under a special operation titled ‘Cyber Kavach’ across districts in the Central Range. The drive is being led by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Central Range, Cuttack, with a focused effort to dismantle mule bank account networks and curb rising digital financial crimes.
As part of the recent enforcement action, police have registered four cases across Puri, Khordha, Kendrapara, and Nayagarh districts. During the operation, a total of 256 suspicious bank accounts were verified for their alleged involvement in fraudulent financial transactions. Authorities traced fraud proceeds amounting to ₹18,79,634 and served 38 notices in connection with the cases. Additionally, ₹9 lakh linked to cybercrime activities was seized during the drive.
In Puri district, two mule bank accounts were detected, with ₹50,000 and ₹6,684 traced from the accounts. In Khordha district, multiple suspicious accounts were identified and are currently under verification. Kendrapara police detected two mule accounts, tracing ₹18,000 and ₹4,950 from them. Meanwhile, in Nayagarh district, officials verified 250 accounts, seized ₹9 lakh, and issued 35 notices as part of the crackdown.
Police officials stated that the ‘Cyber Kavach’ initiative aims to systematically identify and disrupt mule account networks that facilitate cyber fraud. The department reiterated its commitment to strengthening digital security measures and protecting citizens from online financial scams. Further investigation into the identified accounts and linked individuals is ongoing.
