Jeweller Robbed of Gold Worth Rs 50 Lakh at Gunpoint in Balasore

Bhubaneswar: A jewellery shop owner was allegedly robbed of gold ornaments worth around Rs 50 lakh by four armed miscreants at Santaragadia Square under Nilagiri police limits in Balasore district on Wednesday night.
The victim, Krupasindhu Rana (52), was reportedly on his way home after closing his jewellery shop when the incident took place. According to sources, four unidentified men riding two motorcycles intercepted Rana, threatened him at gunpoint and snatched a bag containing gold ornaments.

The miscreants allegedly fired a shot during the robbery. However, Rana managed to escape unhurt.
On receiving information, police rushed to the spot and launched an investigation. Nilagiri IIC Gobardhan Nayak seized empty bullet shells from the scene as part of the probe.
As of Thursday morning, no formal complaint had been lodged by the victim. Police said further action would be initiated following the filing of a complaint.
