Drunk husband hacks wife to death with axe in front of father-in-law

Balangir: A shocking incident of domestic violence has come to light from Odisha’s Balangir district, where a man allegedly hacked his wife to death with an axe in an intoxicated state, reportedly in front of her father.

The incident occurred at Jurlakani village under Deogaon police station limits in Balangir district. The deceased woman has been identified as Tapa Mallik. According to sources, her husband Madhab Mallik, who was under the influence of alcohol, attacked her with an axe, killing her on the spot.

Following the incident, the accused husband has been detained by the police. Deogaon police rushed to the spot and launched an investigation. Preliminary inquiry suggests that the murder was the result of family discord.

Further investigation is underway, and police are questioning the accused to ascertain the exact sequence of events.
