Power Consumers in Odisha Face Severe Hardships Due to Tata Power, Says Jan Jagaran

Bhubaneswar: Alleging widespread inconvenience to electricity consumers in Odisha due to the functioning of Tata Power, representatives of Jan Jagaran on Friday shared their concerns before the media.

They stated that despite Odisha being projected as a power-surplus state, it continues to witness one of the highest instances of power cuts in the country. Moreover, electricity consumers in the state are paying higher tariffs compared to many other states, the organisation claimed.

Raising these issues, Jan Jagaran representatives said they held discussions with the Chairperson of the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC). During the meeting, all demands related to frequent power outages, high tariffs, and consumer grievances were formally placed before the commission.

The organisation said a detailed discussion was held on possible solutions to address the ongoing power supply issues and ensure better services for electricity consumers across the state.
