Lightning Strike Kills One, Injures Another in Nuapada

Bhubaneswar: A lightning strike at Durkamunda village under Boden block in Nuapada district on Thursday claimed the life of one person and left another critically injured.

The deceased has been identified as Parshu Satnami, while the injured has been named as Lubha Satnami, both residents of Durkamunda.

According to reports, the incident occurred when the duo had gone near a pond for nature’s call. A sudden lightning strike hit them, killing Parshu on the spot. He was rushed to Khariar Sub-Divisional Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Lubha, who sustained severe injuries, was shifted to the Nuapada District Headquarters Hospital for advanced treatment. His condition is reported to be critical.

The tragic incident has left the local community in shock and once again underscores the dangers of venturing outdoors during thunderstorms.
