Jagannath Temple Managing Committee to Hold First Meeting on September 3

Bhubaneswar: The reconstituted Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee will hold its first meeting on September 3 in Puri.

According to reports, the meeting will be held at Niladri Bhakta Niwas under the chairmanship of Puri Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingh Deb. The session will formally welcome the newly appointed members and deliberate on key issues related to temple management.

Among the major agendas are streamlining the dhadi darshan (queue system) to ensure smooth entry of devotees, relocating the donation box, and conducting an inventory and verification of Ratna Bhandar valuables, Odisha Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan informed.

The Odisha government had appointed 10 new members to the Shree Jagannath Temple Management Committee on August 26 under the provisions of the Shree Jagannath Temple Act, 1954, nearly 11 months after the previous body’s tenure expired.

The Managing Committee plays a pivotal role in overseeing the administration, rituals, and day-to-day functioning of the 12th-century shrine, one of the most revered temples in the country.
