Refurbished Indonesian Gallery Opens at Odisha State Maritime Museum

Bhubaneswar: Indonesia’s Ambassador to India, Ina Hagniningtyas Krisnamurthi, and Development Commissioner–cum–Additional Chief Secretary Anu Garg recently inaugurated the refurbished Indonesian Gallery at the Odisha State Maritime Museum (OSMM) in Cuttack.

The gallery, which houses rare artifacts showcasing centuries-old maritime and cultural ties between Odisha and Indonesia, has been upgraded with improved lighting, better signage, and advanced artifact preservation.

Ambassador Krisnamurthi expressed her gratitude for the warm hospitality in Odisha and said the renovated gallery stands as a tribute to the rich Odisha–Indonesia relationship. Garg appreciated the Indonesian Embassy’s continued support in strengthening cultural ties and envisioned further development to modernize the museum experience.

She also highlighted future possibilities of collaboration with Indonesia and other ASEAN countries to promote shared heritage.

Located on the banks of the Mahanadi at Jobra in Cuttack, the Odisha State Maritime Museum continues to be a major attraction, preserving and showcasing the state’s glorious maritime trade history.
