14-Year-Old Boy Dies of Electrocution During Ramlila in Puri

Puri: A heart-breaking incident was reported from Bhavanipur village under Krushnaprasad block of Puri district, where a 14-year-old boy died after suffering a severe electric shock during a Ramlila performance.

According to reports, the Ramlila was being staged at night and had attracted a large crowd from nearby villages. Shortly after the performance began, the boy—son of Kandur Pradhan from Parla village—allegedly got frightened during the dramatic entry of the character Hanuman and ran away from the venue in panic.

In a state of fear, he reportedly rushed towards a nearby electrical transformer and came into direct contact with it, resulting in a fatal electric shock.

Locals immediately rushed the boy to the Chilika Nuapada Community Health Centre, where doctors declared him brought dead on arrival.

The tragic incident has cast a pall of gloom over the village and surrounding areas. Police from Krushnaprasad have reached the spot, recovered the body, and launched an investigation into the circumstances leading to the incident. The deceased was reportedly a Class 8 student.
