₹50 Lakh Worth Brown Sugar Seized in Khordha, Three Arrested

Khordha: Police seized 500 grams of brown sugar valued at approximately ₹50 lakh during a raid on the Kuhudi–Benipathar road under Tangi police station limits in Khordha district. Three persons, including a woman, were arrested in connection with the case.
Addressing the media, Balugaon SDPO Sanjay Kumar Pattnaik said the operation was carried out under the direction of Khordha SP Vivekananda Sharma. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a police team led by Tangi IIC R.K. Bhujabal conducted a raid near Kuhudi Talagada while a drug deal was allegedly being planned.

The accused have been identified as Atashi Ranjan Majhi alias Bapu (33) of Soro in Balasore district, Sk Asaraf alias Bibhuti (28) of Naya Bazar in Balasore, and Akash Sethi (23), a native of Butupali-Ranjanpali in Boudh district, currently residing in Jamadeipur in Khordha.
During the raid, police recovered 500 grams of brown sugar, a white Bolero vehicle (OD 22 T 4474), a KTM motorcycle (OD 01 JZ 9829), three mobile phones, and ₹70,000 in cash. Gold ornaments weighing around 30 grams were also seized, including two gold chains, earrings, ear studs, nose pins, and lockets.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the NDPS Act (Case No. 356/2026), and the accused have been produced in court. Further investigation is being carried out by Sub-Inspector Sunil Kumar Murmu.
