Youth Caught Peddling Brown Sugar in Soro, Handed Over to Excise Officials

Soro: In a display of community vigilance, residents of Pathan Mahalla under Soro block in Balasore district caught a youth allegedly involved in brown sugar peddling and handed him over to the Excise Department on Friday.

The accused, identified as Rahimat Alli of Itua village, was reportedly caught red-handed while selling the contraband to a group of local youths. According to sources, alert villagers confined him inside a house and immediately informed Soro police and Excise officials.

Acting swiftly, a team from the Soro Excise Department reached the spot and took Alli into custody. Officials seized over 100 grams of brown sugar from his possession.

An investigation has been launched to track the source of the drugs and identify others linked to the illicit network.
