Yellow Warning Issued as Odisha Braces for Rain, Thunderstorms Over Next Five Days

Bhubaneswar: The Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, has predicted rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms across several parts of Odisha for today and the next five days. A yellow warning has been issued for six days starting August 29.
According to the MeT department, the monsoon trough now passes through Bikaner, Kota, Guna, Damoh, Pendra Road, Sambalpur, Puri, and extends east-southeastwards to the central Bay of Bengal.

- August 29: Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are likely at one or two places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.
- August 30: Similar weather conditions expected over the same districts.
- August 31:
- Heavy rainfall with thunderstorms and gusty winds likely in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Koraput, and Rayagada.
- Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds may occur in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, and Malkangiri.

- Heavy rainfall likely in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Sundargarh.

- September 3: Heavy rainfall is very likely in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Sundargarh.
The MeT department has urged people in the affected districts to remain alert, avoid open areas during lightning, and take necessary precautions to ensure safety.
