Woman Lecturer Found Dead in Rented House in Keonjhar, Police Detain Male Friend

Bhubaneswar/Keonjhar: A woman lecturer was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a rented accommodation in Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Tuesday, triggering allegations of foul play by her family.

The deceased has been identified as Priyanka Das, a resident of Balasore district, who was working as a contractual lecturer at Government Women’s College in Keonjhar. Her body was found inside a rented room reportedly taken by her male friend, Rudra Narayan Mishra, a few days ago.

Police said the woman and Mishra were allegedly staying together in the rented accommodation. Following the incident, Mishra has been detained for questioning as part of the investigation.

Family members of the deceased have alleged that Priyanka was in a live-in relationship with Mishra for the past several days and accused him of killing her following a dispute. They have lodged a formal complaint with the police seeking a thorough probe.

Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of death. Further details are awaited pending post-mortem examination and completion of the inquiry.
