Woman Dies After C-Section Delivery at Keonjhar DHH, Family Stages Protest

Keonjhar: Tension prevailed at the Keonjhar District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) after a woman died hours after giving birth, leading to agitation by her family and the intervention of police.

According to reports, the deceased, Pinki Sahoo of Turumunga village, was admitted to the hospital on Saturday morning for delivery. She gave birth to a baby girl through a C-section later in the evening.

Around midnight, Pinki reportedly complained of severe pain. A nurse attempted multiple times to contact the doctor but, failing to reach them, administered an injection. Despite the intervention, Pinki’s condition deteriorated, and she passed away around 2 am.

Following her death, the nurse allegedly handed over a death certificate to the family, but it did not bear the doctor’s signature. Objecting to the incomplete document, the family refused to accept the body and demanded the presence of the attending doctor.

As the situation intensified, police reached the spot to control the tension and mediate between the hospital authorities and the grieving family. An inquiry into the incident is expected.
