Voting Begins For Vice President Election 2025

New-Delhi: All eyes are set on to welcome a new Vice-President today as members of both the houses of the Parliament are voting to elect the country next Vice-President.

Polling is underway at the new Parliament building and will end at 5 pm, with counting of votes scheduled to begin at 6 pm. The results are expected later in the evening.

The election will be held between the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) CP Radhakrishnan and the Opposition INDIA bloc’s B Sudershan Reddy.

The election was necessitated following the sudden resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar on July 21, citing health reasons.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the Parliament House to cast his vote for the Vice Presidential election.

Currently, the Parliament comprises 781 members, including 542 in the Lok Sabha with one seat vacant and 239 in the Rajya Sabha with five seats vacant. The 12 nominated members of the Rajya Sabha are also eligible to vote in the election.
