Unidentified Man’s Body Recovered from Baner River in Kalahandi

Bhawanipatna: Police recovered the body of an unidentified young man from the Baner river under Jaipatna police station limits in Odisha’s Kalahandi district on Thursday morning.

The deceased is believed to be between 30 and 35 years old, and his identity has not yet been established.

According to local sources, the incident came to light at around 10 am when villagers went to the river for bathing and spotted a body floating in the water. They immediately alerted the village sarpanch, Gautam Majhi, who rushed to the scene and informed the police and fire services.

Fire department personnel, assisted by police, later retrieved the body from the river. The deceased was subsequently sent to the Jaipatna Community Health Centre for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation. Efforts are underway to identify the deceased, officials said.
