Two Youths Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident on NH-57 in Balasore

Bhubaneswar: Two youths lost their lives after their motorcycle was hit by an unidentified vehicle near Nampo Chhak on the Jaleswar–Chandaneswar stretch of National Highway No. 57 in Balasore district in the early hours of Sunday.

The deceased have been identified as Gautam Sahu (18) and Chandra Shekhar Mahapatra (22), both residents of Baghua village in the district.

According to sources, the duo was travelling towards Jaleswar railway station at around 3 am when an unidentified vehicle allegedly rammed into their motorcycle near Nampo Chhak. The vehicle fled the scene after the collision, killing both youths on the spot.

On receiving information, personnel from the Nampo police outpost rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies to G.K. Bhatar Community Health Centre in Jaleswar for post-mortem examination.

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to trace the offending vehicle.
