Two Tourists Rescued from Rough Sea at Puri Beach

Puri: In two separate incidents on Thursday, alert lifeguards rescued two tourists who encountered difficulties while bathing in the sea at Puri beach, underscoring the unpredictable nature of the waters.
The first incident took place at Sector 9, where 45-year-old Narayan Sahu from Berhampur Bada Bazaar suffered an epileptic seizure while in the sea. The sudden medical emergency rendered him unconscious in the water. On noticing the situation, bystanders immediately alerted lifeguards, who rushed into the sea and brought him to safety.

Sahu was later shifted to the Puri District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.
In another incident near Chaitanya Chack in the same sector, 41-year-old Sonu Tibari from Jharkhand was swept away by strong waves while bathing. Lifeguards responded swiftly and managed to rescue him from the rough sea.
The back-to-back incidents have once again highlighted the risks associated with bathing in the sea at Puri. Authorities have urged tourists to remain vigilant, avoid venturing into deep waters, and strictly adhere to safety instructions issued by lifeguards.
Puri Police and lifeguard teams have appealed to visitors to prioritise safety and refrain from taking unnecessary risks while enjoying the beach.
