Two Nuapada Officials Arrested for Embezzling Government Funds

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance officials have arrested two government employees for their alleged involvement in misappropriation of funds meant for a climate change project in Nuapada district.
The accused have been identified as Trilochan Dhal, former Chief District Veterinary Officer (CDVO) of Nuapada, and Ashok Kumar Dau, Statistical Enumerator in the CDVO office.

According to the Vigilance Directorate, the duo diverted over ₹18 lakh from the National Adaptation Funds for Climate Change (NAFCC) scheme. The misappropriated amount was reportedly transferred to Dau’s personal bank account.
Following the detection of the fraud, a case has been registered at Koraput Vigilance Police Station (Case No.29/2025) under Sections 13(2) r/w 13(1)(a) of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, along with Sections 409 (criminal breach of trust) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
