Two more arrested in chilling murder case of young woman in Keonjhar

Joda: In a major development in the Jharagaon murder case, two more people have been arrested for helping the main accused to bury the young woman after her murder in forest to dispose her body on Monday. The Barbil police has also seized the bike used by the arrested individuals.

The arrested individual has been identified as Rahul Nayak and Krushna Nayak of Jhadagaon.

According to police reports, both of them had helped the main accused of the case, Sangram Alda, to bury the body of the victim.

The chilling murder case had shocked Keonjhar after the skeleton of a young woman missing for 26 days was found in a ditch in a forest in the Raida forest. Following the disappearance of the woman, her family had lodged a missing complaint. After her skeleton got identified, police arrested Sangram as the prime accused who confessed all the details about the case.

On May 11, he allegedly came to meet with the victim with two of his friends. Later, Sangram informed his two friends that he had killed her over some argument. The three of them reportedly carried the body on a motorcycle into the forest and buried her remains in a pit and covered it with leaves. Then they dumped her belongings, including a chunni, slippers in the Balita dam and threw the sharp weapon used in the murder in another pit in Kamarajoda area to destroy evidence.

The victim’s family has demanded strict punishment for the accused. Police is conducting further investigation in the case.
