Two Held with Ganja at Bhubaneswar Railway Station During RPF Check

Bhubaneswar: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Tuesday arrested two persons at Bhubaneswar Railway Station for allegedly possessing and attempting to transport ganja, officials said.
The accused, both residents of Haryana, were reportedly trying to smuggle the contraband from Ganjam district to Haryana by train. The arrests were made during a routine inspection conducted by the RPF with assistance from its K-9 sniffer dog squad.

According to officials, the sniffer dog alerted RPF personnel after sensing suspicious behaviour from the two individuals who were waiting at the station. Acting on the alert, the RPF team intercepted the suspects and carried out a search of their belongings, during which ganja was recovered from their bags.
“The two persons were sitting at the station and aroused suspicion. Our K-9 squad dog pointed towards them, following which a search was conducted and ganja was recovered,” an RPF official said.
The official added that such inspections are carried out regularly, particularly when trains on major routes arrive at the station, as part of efforts to prevent smuggling through the railway network.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
