Two goods trains derail near Chandil Station in Jharkhand

Jharkhand: In a shocking incident, two goods train collided and derailed early Saturday morning disrupting train operations. The incident occurred between Pitki railway gate and Chandil Station in Jharkhand.
According to the reports, a goods train loaded with iron from Tatanagar to Purulia went off the tracks shortly after crossing Chandil station at around 4 am. The derailed coaches of this train collided with another goods train coming from the opposite direction.
The collision severely damaged the tracks and stopped all train movements. Railway staff and rescue teams then quickly reached the spot and started the repair work.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation. However, the accident has reportedly resulted in the cancellation of 12 trains and the diversion of 15 others. Additionally, restoration work on the tracks is still going on.
Earlier this month, two coaches of 15269 Muzaffarpur-Sabarmati Jan Sadharan Express derailed at the Kanpur-Tundla section in the Prayagraj Division, officials said.
According to railway officials, the 6th and 7th coaches from the engine derailed on the loop line of the station.
