Tribal woman gangraped in Angul

Angul: Sexual assaults of women and girls in Odisha continue as a tribal woman was allegedly gangraped by three unidentified youths under Bagadia police station limits of Angul district.
As alleged by the woman, she had reportedly gone to a hospital in Chhendipada area for some work along with her nephew on Sunday. While returning home from the hospital, three men waylaid them near Baramancha village taking the advantage of their loneliness.
Before she could understand anything, the accused persons forcefully took her to an isolated location, some distance from the main road, and allegedly gangraped her.
In order to hide their identities and being caught by others, the accused persons immediately fled the spot after committing the crime. She informed the family members after reaching home.
The matter, however, came to light only after the woman with the help of her family members filed a complaint at the Bagadia police station seeking arrest of all the accused men.
According to the rape survivor, the accused persons with their appearances seemed to be daily workers and were doing some work near the spot where she was gangraped.
Based on the woman’s complaint, police without any delay started an investigation into the matter. They are taking the help of the sniffer dogs to get some lead or evidence that would help them to identify the three accused persons and subsequently arrest them.
Police also is said to have recorded the statement of the woman over the incident.
Meanwhile, from the surrounding and situations it is suspected that the accused persons belong to the nearby locality and were engage in plantation of paddy as the gangrape occurred near an isolated location with paddy fields.
The incident has shocked the local residents who demanded immediate arrest of the accused persons.
