Tragic Road Accident Claims 2 Lives Near Rourkela

Two youths died, and another sustained critical injuries in a devastating road accident near Jamunadhipa on National Highway-143 close to Rourkela late Sunday night.


The accident occurred around 1:30 AM when a speeding black car, bearing registration number OD 14 AB 9836, lost control and rammed into Sonu Dhaba, a roadside eatery. The collision mangled the vehicle completely, leaving the scene in chaos.

Three youths were travelling toward Rourkela when the mishap struck. Two of them died instantly, while the third was rescued and rushed to a hospital in Rourkela. Doctors described his condition as critical. All three victims reportedly belonged to the TCI area.

Police teams from Biramitrapur and Kuarmunda police stations reached the site soon after the crash. They began an investigation and collected preliminary details. Authorities suspect overspeeding as a major factor behind the accident, though the exact cause remains under inquiry.

The incident shocked locals, who gathered at the site in large numbers. The mangled remains of the car and the damaged eatery reflected the severity of the impact. Residents expressed concern over reckless driving on the highway, which has witnessed several accidents in recent months.
