Traffic Updates via FM Radio to Resume in Bhubaneswar-Cuttack

Bhubaneswar: In a move aimed at improving traffic management and easing congestion, the Commissionerate Police of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack has decided to reinstate traffic updates through FM radio channels. The service, which was discontinued earlier, will soon be revived to assist daily commuters in navigating the busy roads of the twin cities.
Announcing the initiative, Commissioner of Police Suresh Singh Dev Datta Singh said the decision is part of a larger strategy to strengthen urban traffic management amid the region’s rapid expansion.
“After consultations with all stakeholders, we have decided to collaborate with FM radio stations to broadcast timely traffic updates. Earlier, the service had proved useful for commuters by identifying congested routes and suggesting alternatives. Based on positive feedback, we are now bringing it back in coordination with traffic police, broadcasters, and the public,” Singh stated during a media briefing on Saturday.
Officials believe the renewed collaboration between the traffic department and FM channels will help create a more informed commuting experience, reducing bottlenecks and ensuring smoother traffic flow across Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
