Tight Security in Place Ahead of Odisha Assembly Monsoon Session

Bhubaneswar: With the Odisha Legislative Assembly’s monsoon session scheduled to begin tomorrow, Commissionerate Police has put in place a multi-layered security apparatus to ensure smooth and incident-free proceedings.

A three-tier security system has been planned, with 30 platoons of police deployed to maintain law and order. Barricading has been erected around the Assembly and adjoining areas, while vehicle movement restrictions have been imposed on surrounding roads, allowing only emergency vehicles to pass.

The security cover will also include a striking force, STF personnel, bomb disposal squad, dog squad, and fire brigade, officials said. Additionally, CCTV cameras have been installed at key points such as the Assembly, Lower PMG, and Rabindra Mandap for round-the-clock monitoring.

To further tighten vigilance, five temporary police control rooms have been set up at the Assembly gate, Rabindra Mandap gate, and Lower PMG. Armed police personnel will be deployed around the Assembly complex, while plainclothes officers will keep a close watch on suspicious activity.

Director General of Police Y.B. Khurania is expected to inspect the arrangements soon.

Authorities said the elaborate measures are aimed at ensuring the safety of MLAs, officials, and all stakeholders during the session.
