Thunderstorm Alert Issued for Several Odisha Districts

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning predicting light to moderate thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and light rain at isolated places in several districts of Odisha over the next three hours.
According to the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, districts likely to experience the weather activity include Sambalpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Ganjam and Nayagarh. The alert was issued at 6:00 PM on Saturday.

The IMD has categorised the alert as a Yellow warning, urging residents to remain alert and closely monitor the weather conditions. Officials cautioned that lightning activity during the period may pose risks, especially in vulnerable areas.
Residents in the affected districts have been advised to stay vigilant and move to safer locations if weather conditions deteriorate, particularly to avoid lightning strikes.
The Meteorological Centre said the nowcast warning is based on current weather observations and may be revised depending on the movement and intensity of the weather system.
