Three Killed, Three Critically Injured in Car-Autorickshaw Collision in Angul

Angul: In a tragic road accident near Khandahata bridge under Angul Sadar police limits today, three people were killed on the spot and three others sustained critical injuries when a car collided head-on with an autorickshaw.
The deceased have been identified as Banshidhara Sethi, his wife Kamala Sethi, and autorickshaw driver Mantu Muduli. Banshidhara, a resident of Karanda village, had reportedly complained of uneasiness earlier in the day. He, along with his wife, daughter-in-law Sunita Sethi, and grandson Shree Sai, first visited the Angul District Headquarters Hospital and later went to Turang village — Sunita’s parental home — for lunch.
While returning to Karanda, their autorickshaw was struck by a car coming from Narasinghpur. The collision was so severe that both vehicles veered off the road and fell into a nearby farmland.
Sunita and her son Shree Sai were critically injured in the accident, along with the car’s owner who was travelling in the vehicle. The car driver fled the scene and has not yet been traced.
Following the mishap, Fire Service personnel and Angul Sadar Police rushed to the spot. The injured were immediately shifted to Angul District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.
Police have launched an investigation into the accident and efforts are underway to nab the absconding driver.
