Three Dacoits Held in Balasore; Arms and Ornaments Seized

Balasore: In a major breakthrough, Simulia Police arrested three members of a dacoity gang during a late-night patrol and seized arms, explosives, stolen ornaments, and a motorcycle from their possession.
According to police sources, a patrol team from Simulia police station received a tip-off on Friday night about a group of 7–8 individuals gathered near Hasua bridge allegedly planning a dacoity in a nearby village. Acting promptly, the patrolling team alerted the Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) and surrounded the area. While three accused were apprehended, four others managed to flee the spot.

During the operation, police recovered a sword, two live bombs, iron rods, and other incriminating materials from the arrested individuals.
At a press briefing, Sadar SDPO Shubhranshu Shekhar Nayak and Simulia IIC Shrabana Kumar Maharana informed that the arrested persons are residents of the Simulia area and have a history of involvement in multiple dacoity cases in Soro, Simulia, and Basudevpur.
Further investigation revealed that the gang had sold stolen ornaments to a local jeweller. Acting on the information, police seized around 900 grams of silver ornaments from the jeweller’s shop. The motorcycle used by the gang during their operations was also confiscated.
“We have registered a case and efforts are on to nab the absconding members of the gang,” SDPO Nayak said.
