Three Arrested in Biramitrapur Tehsil Office Firing Case

Rourkela: Police have arrested three persons in connection with last month’s firing incident outside the Biramitrapur Tehsil office. A motorcycle, a country-made pistol, and a live bullet were seized from their possession.
The incident took place when land broker Uttam Ghosh had visited the Tehsil office for official work. Around 1:15 pm, while reversing his car, two men on a motorcycle approached him and the pillion rider opened fire. Ghosh escaped unhurt, though the bullet pierced the car’s windshield and struck the back seat.

In his complaint, Ghosh alleged that the attack was masterminded by Wajid Ansari of Bhil-Phuljhar, with whom he had a financial dispute. He claimed to have already paid ₹25 lakh for a land deal scheduled for registration that day and suspected that Ansari conspired to eliminate him to avoid repayment.
Police confirmed that the attack was linked to the dispute and have taken three accused into custody. Efforts are on to trace other possible conspirators involved in the case.
