Three arrested for beating a person to death over land dispute

Cuttack, Dec 31: Choudwar police Sunday arrested three persons for beating a person to death over land dispute at Sandha Padia.

                The arrested accused trio are Dambarudhar Hesa(28), Dinesh Birua(24) and Babi Mallik(30) of the village.

DCP Akhilesvar Singh said, there was a land dispute between the deceased Bhibisan Singh and the accused Dambarudhar and Dinesh who had also threatened to eliminate him.

                On the ill-fated day, Dinesh’s father Somanath Birua had a quarrel with the deceased who had cut down a tree from the disputed land.

                Somanath then intimated his son and son-in-law about the quarrel who then hatched a plan to eliminate him.

While, Bhibisan was fishing, the accused trio came in bike and beaten him to death with an wooden plank. When locals rushed to the spot, Dinesh took out a pistol from his waist and opened fire at blank threatening them to disperse from the spot, said DCP adding that the bike, the wooden plank and the pistol used in the crime have also been seized.
