“Those involved will be punished in Koraput 6 patient death case”

Koraput: A five-membered team of SCB MCH and MKCG MCH are enquiring the deaths of six patients in the wrong injection administration case of SLNMCH in Koraput. The two teams inspected the Intensive care units (ICUs) and enquired the nurses, doctors, professors and the Medical Superintendent.

The two teams have returned with the samples of the injections administered to the patients and their health reports. The report will be presented to the Directorate of Medical Education & Training (DMET). The report will come within two days, said sources. The six persons included three women.

After the DMET submits the findings of the enquiry report to the Health Department, due action will be taken against those responsible said Minister Mukesh Mahalinga. He had also visited the Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital himself after the death of the six patients.

According to information, patients belonging to Koraput, Borigumma, Kalahandi, Similiguda, Machara were undergoing treatment in the SLNMCH. Several patients from these areas were getting treatment in the ICUs and surgery wards besides the OPD.

The family members of the patients who died, claimed that the condition of the patients was fine after the operation. Then under what circumstances they died, stands as an unresolved question as of now.
