Sword attack in Kargil Basti leaves two critical

Bhubaneswar: In an unfortunate incident, two persons were seriously injured, sustaining severe wounds in a sword attack incident.

The injured person has been identified as Jagan and Sibaram.

As per sources, victim Jagan is suffering from severe injury, and he has been admitted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for treatment, while the second injured Sibaram is stated to be stable.

Sources said that an altercation occurred between Jagan and the youth for an unknown reason. However, the argument soon turned into a physical attack between the two groups.

Out of anger and frustration, the youth allegedly attacked Jagan with a sword. Sibaram, while intervening in the fight, had also become the target of the attack and sustained injuries.

The people of the locality were alerted by the commotion and started thronging to the spot to know the matter.

The police also arrived at the spot after receiving information and started an inquiry.

The motive of the violent attack is yet to be known by the police; however, the police are investigating all the angles of the crime. Besides, they have launched a search operation to trace the accused and arrest him.

The incident has once again triggered panic among the city residents as similar incidents of sword attack have been reported from different parts of the state capital city in recent months.
