Suryakumar Yadav donates his entire Asia Cup match fee to Indian army and Pahalgam victims

New-Delhi: Star India skipper Suryakumar Yadav said he would donate his entire match fee for the tournament to the Indian Armed Forces and victims of the April 22 Pahalgam attack.
“I have decided to donate my match fees from this tournament to support our Armed Forces and the families of the victims who suffered from the Pahalgam terror attack. You always remain in my thoughts. Jai Hind,” Suryakumar said in a post on X.
India defeated Pakistan by five wickets to win the trophy in the final game of Asia Cup on Sunday night, thus winning all three matches against the neighbouring country in this tournament.
The Indian team refused to accept the Asia Cup trophy from PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the chief of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
Suryakumar Yadav remarked, “I think this is one thing that I have never seen since I started playing cricket, since I started following cricket, that a champion team is denied to get a trophy. I mean that, too, a hard-earned one.I feel we deserved it and I can’t say anything more.
“I think I have summed it up really well. My trophies are sitting in my dressing room. All the 14 guys with me, all the support staff, those are the real trophies, who I have been a big fan of throughout this journey of the Asia Cup.Those are the real trophies, real moments, which I’m taking back as lovely memories which will stay with me forever going forward.” says Suryakumar Yadav, India’s T20 captain, in the Post-Match Press Conference after winning the Asia Cup 2025 by defeating Pakistan,” added Suryakumar.
The players from the Indian team earn a match fee of Rs 4 lakh for each game in the T20 format. Thus, the 35-year-old would be donating a sum of Rs 28 lakh which he is entitled to from the seven games played in the tournament.
After India’s five-wicket victory, the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced a reward of Rs 21 crore for the players and support staff.
