Sudarsan Pattnaik Creates Lord Jagannath Sand Sculpture to Welcome New Year 2026 in Puri

Bhubaneswar: Renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has created a stunning sand sculpture of Lord Jagannath on Puri’s Blue Flag Beach to welcome the New Year 2026.

The sculpture, beautifully adorned with flowers, has drawn the attention of devotees and tourists visiting Puri Jagannath Dham, who can now take darshan of Mahaprabhu Jagannath on the seashore itself.

Sharing the moment on his X handle, Pattnaik wrote, “Jai Jagannath. The first sunrise of 2026 over the sacred shores of Mahodadhi, Puri beach. A divine beginning in the holy land of Maha Prabhu Jagannath.”

Speaking about the artwork, Pattnaik said that the large sand sculpture of Mahaprabhu Jagannath has been specially installed with floral decorations so that devotees and tourists arriving in Puri for the New Year can seek blessings in a unique and spiritual setting by the sea.

The sculpture has added to the festive and devotional atmosphere in Puri as the holy town ushers in the New Year.
