Soro Police Nab Notorious Criminal in Dacoity Case, Recover Arms and Stolen Valuables

Balasore: In a significant breakthrough, Soro Police have cracked a major dacoity case reported in Dayanidhipur village under Soro police limits.
The incident, which occurred in the early hours of May 22, 2025, saw a gang of 7 to 8 armed miscreants break into the house of one Manjulata Nayak at around 1 AM. The attackers assaulted family members and made away with cash and gold ornaments, prompting immediate action from the local police.
The case was formally registered at Soro Police Station at 8:15 AM on the same day, following a written complaint by the victim. Under the supervision of Dr. Satyajit Naik, IPS, DIG of Eastern Range, Balasore, and in coordination with police teams from Balasore and Bhadrak districts, multiple investigation teams were formed. Using scientific investigation techniques and the assistance of a dog squad, the police managed to trace and arrest the main accused, identified as Bapi alias Manoranjan Pani.
The arrest led to the recovery of a considerable amount of stolen items and weapons. Among the items seized were a red Bullet motorcycle (registration number OD02-BT-0507), two Mauzer firearms, 20 rounds of live ammunition, ₹27,000 in cash, a large quantity of gold ornaments including necklaces, chains, rings, earrings, and bangles, approximately 500 grams of silver ornaments, four mobile phones, a collection of old coins, a wristwatch, and a plier believed to be used during the crime.
Authorities revealed that Bapi has a long criminal history and is wanted in as many as 19 previous cases spanning across Bhadrak, Balasore, and Talcher areas. His arrest marks a significant development in the fight against organized crime in the region.
The Soro Police have commended the swift and efficient work of the investigation teams and reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order. This case highlights the importance of coordinated policing and the use of modern investigative tools in tackling rising crime in rural and urban areas alike.
