SJTA to Introduce Dhadi Darshan System at Jagannath Temple After Karttik

Bhubaneswar: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has decided to introduce the Dhadi Darshan system, a queue-based darshan arrangement, at the Nata Mandap of Puri’s Jagannath Temple after the Karttik month.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Chhattisha Nijoga on Saturday, where rituals for Karttik Brata and Baldhupa were also approved.

According to SJTA Chief Administrator Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, the temple doors will open daily at 4 am during Karttik month (October 3 to November 5), with the Dhadi Darshan system to be implemented on a trial basis thereafter.

The temple body has also issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Divyang Darshan and imposed restrictions on the use of mobile phones inside the temple. A coordination committee will meet every Wednesday to review discipline, while guidelines on mobile use will be released shortly.

In addition, SJTA is planning to prepare an extra ornament set for the deities for the Suna Besha.

During Karttik month, devotees will witness special Beshas of the Lords, including Radha Damodar Besha, Harihar Besha, Lakshmi Narayan Besha, among others.

Meanwhile, SJTA will also request the state government to transfer the administration of silver ingots seized from Emar Mutt to the temple authority, following a proposal made in the Nijoga meeting.
