Six migrant labourers from Odisha die in Andhra Pradesh

Mohana: As many as six migrant labourers from Odisha died reportedly after a blast at a quarry in Bapatla district of Andhra Pradesh where they were working this morning.
Out of the six deceased Odia migrant labourers, two are said to be from Gajapati district while four others are from Ganjam district, said sources.
Bhaskar Bisoi and Tukuna Dalei of Alara village under the Mohan police station limits of Gajapati district had reportedly gone to Andhra Pradesh to work as migrant labourers a month ago and were working at the stone quarry to earn their livelihood.
However, both of them along with others reportedly after a huge granite rock fell over them while they were engaged in mining works at the quarry, said the sources adding that a total of 16 labourers were reportedly working when the mishap occurred.
“My brother along with some others from our Alara village had gone to Andhra Pradesh to work. He was engaged in a stone quarry. However, we got a phone call this morning from a man who is also from our village who said that both Bhaskar Bisoi and Tukuna Dalei died following a blast in the stone quarry,” said Panchu Paika, a relative of Tukuna Dalei.
A wave of shock and mourning swept the entire village and the locality following the unfortunate and tragic deaths of both Bhaskar Bisoi and Tukuna Dalei.
Meanwhile, the family members of the deceased labourers sought the help of the local and administrations and state government to get the bodies of Bhaskar Bisoi and Tukuna Dalei to their native village to conduct their last rites.
Some locals also demanded compensation for the kin of the deceased persons as they were the only members of the family to earn livelihood.
Details about the four deceased workers from Ganjam district is yet to be received.
