Similipal’s Gurguria Shivers at 1°C as Cold Wave Persists

Bhubaneswar: Severe cold wave conditions continue to prevail across Odisha, offering little respite to residents, as the Gurguria area of the Similipal Tiger Reserve recorded a chilling low of 1°C on Wednesday.

According to officials of the Similipal Tiger Reserve, the mercury dipped to 2°C in Upper Baraha Kamuda (UBK) and Chahala during the early morning hours. Barehipani witnessed a comparatively higher minimum temperature of 5°C, while Ramatirtha, Kiajhari, and Satkosia recorded relatively milder conditions with temperatures hovering around 9°C to 10°C.

The Similipal Tiger Reserve authorities confirmed the temperature readings, noting that the cold wave has intensified across the forested and surrounding regions.

The biting cold has disrupted normal life, with residents in several areas struggling to cope with the freezing conditions. People have been seen taking extra precautions as the harsh weather continues to affect daily activities across the state.
