Severe Cold Wave Grips Odisha as Similipal Records -1°C

Bhubaneswar: Odisha continues to reel under intense cold wave conditions, with the Upper Baraha Kamuda (UBK) area of Similipal Tiger Reserve recording a freezing temperature of minus 1 degree Celsius, the lowest reported in the state.

According to officials of the Similipal Tiger Reserve, several other locations in and around the reserve also witnessed biting cold. Chahala recorded 3°C, Barehipani 4°C, Gurguria 1°C, Ramatirtha 8°C, while Satkosia and Kiajhari reported 9°C each.

The prolonged cold spell has disrupted normal life, with residents struggling to cope with the unusually low temperatures, especially during early morning and night hours.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that cold wave conditions are likely to persist in several districts, including Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Cuttack, Khurda, and Angul. Authorities have advised people to take necessary precautions to protect themselves from the harsh weather.
