Security Tightened in Puri After Delhi Blast; DIGP Reviews Police Arrangements

Puri: In the wake of the recent bomb blast incident in Delhi, DIGP, Central Range, Dr. Satyajit Naik, IPS, reviewed and oversaw the security arrangements in Puri on Tuesday to ensure the safety of devotees and key religious sites, including the Sri Jagannath Temple.

During the review, security across the temple town and coastal areas was intensified. Senior officials present included the SP of Puri, Commandant of the Indian Coast Guard, Commandant and Deputy Commandant of Swatantra Shri Mandir Suraksha Vahini (SSMSV), Assistant Fire Officer, Additional SP (Special Branch), AIG (Marine Security), and other district police officers.

Key measures implemented include:

  • Enhanced frisking and checks at Srimandir and nearby zones.
  • Increased police patrolling in busy areas such as hotels, bus stands, and railway stations.
  • Public advisories urging citizens to report any suspicious activities or objects.
  • Visible policing and heightened field vigilance across the district.

Authorities have assured that the situation is under close watch, with teams maintaining round-the-clock vigilance to ensure the safety of pilgrims and residents in Puri.
