Section 163 Withdrawn in Sundargarh

Authorities have withdrawn BNSS Section 163 from Sundargarh town following a peace committee meeting chaired by the district administration.

District Collector announced the decision, stating that normalcy has returned to the town. Consequently, internet services have been directed to resume in full capacity.

To further strengthen communal harmony, the administration instructed that a peace march be organised in the city. Officials emphasised that the move reflects confidence in the restoration of order and the commitment to maintaining peace.

Following a violent group clash in Sundargarh town, the district administration suspended internet services across the city for 24 hours starting from 6 pm on Thursday.

The clash broke out around 11 am near Regent Market under the Sundargarh Town Police Station jurisdiction after a petty quarrel escalated. Members of two groups resorted to stone-pelting, and some reportedly attacked each other with swords, leaving the road strewn with stones and boulders.

At least 12 people, including four police personnel, were injured in the violence. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
