Saree Catches Fire in Temple: Woman Critical

Aul: In a tragic incident, a woman turned critical on Thursday after her saree caught fire at a temple in Kendrapara district of Odisha. She had gone to the famous Laxmibaraha temple in Aul area of the district to worship on the occasion of Sudasha Brata today when the mishap took place.
The victim woman has been identified as Supriya Nayak from Deogan village in Rajkanika area of the district.
As per reports, today, she had gone to the Prabhu Laxmibaraha temple for Sudasha Brata Osha. When she was lighting a lamp somehow her saree caught fire and accordingly she sustained critical burn injuries.
Following the incident, the other devotees who were present there and her family members rushed her to the Community Health Center (CHC) of Aul in a critical condition and admitted for treatment. However, as her health condition deteriorated, she was then shifted to the Kendrapara District Headquarter Hospital.
It has been learnt that about 50 percent of the woman’s body has been burned.
