Sambalpur: Govt. Extends Internet Suspension

Sambalpur: For the Hanuman Jayanti Violence in Sambalpur, The State Government extended suspension of the internet services in the town by 48 hours. As per the Govt. order, access of data services of all social media in violence-hit Sambalpur town will continue to be stopped till 10 am of April 17.
The restriction has been imposed under the provisions of Section 5 (2) of Indian Telegraph Act 1885 read with Rule 2(1) of The Temporary Suspension of Telecom Services (Public Emergency/ Public Safety) Rules, 2017 to prohibit the use and access of the internet.
Earlier, the internet services were temporarily suspended for the next 48 hours beginning from 10 am on 13 April to prevent further spread of inflammatory and motivated messages. Meanwhile, the curfew is in force in Sambalpur town to restore peace and normalcy post violence on Hanuman Jayanti.
