Samaleswari Express engine catches fire

Surjit Kumar Dhal, Rayagada, June 25: The engine of Samaleshwari Express caught fire between Singapur Road and Kutaguda in Rayagada district on Tuesday after hitting a hit a tower car engaged in some work on the railway track.

According to initial reports the front guard-cum-luggage van and one general second class coach of Samaleshwari Express got derailed following the mishap.

Several passengers are believed to have been injured in the incident while eyewitness reports said two persons died while trying jump out from the burning coaches.
